FEEDBACK

An original work of performance.

FEEDBACK is a mash-up of found complaints, fails, hauls, and hype that's sampled, amplified, cross-cut, and overlaid into a non-narrative performance montage. Collaborators Bullard, Macías, and McKown present a series of vignettes using a unique vocabulary of gesture, sound, and found text to investigate the noise of opinion.  Mining the genius, banality, and idiocy of internet comment and posting, FEEDBACK is a powerful work of contemporary satire.

Do you really want to know what other people think?

we need to write, right?

here are some topics we talked about:
-in addition to writing a "what i hate about myself" monologue, write a "what i hate about the world" monologue (like mike's toilet paper rant)
-evaluations and feedback
-check out more blogs and websites with written feedback like yelp, tripadvisor, chowhound, LTH forum, etc. Try to find well knowns as well as obscure feedback.
-check out disease survivor blogs and check the comments about people who are going through disease or have encountered setbacks or are fighting it
-scientific experiments, medical supplies, drug side effects
-functional objects (from children's toys to salt & pepper shakers to as seen on tv) product reviews
-sports players/games/controversies
-wine and food product reviews/experiences
-stars and their latest news (like LiLo and jail, John from John & Kate wearing Ed Hardys, etc...that type of stuff)
-movie, album, theater, etc. reviews
-advice columns
-spiritual, religious, self help
-issues related to sexual health
-facebook/twitter post feedback conversations
-reality tv feedback in judging sessions & from contestant confessionals & reunion shows

please add to this list if you can think of something.

it would be awesome to have AT LEAST three new pieces written from each person from this list (and from your added topics) formulated by tuesday. try to vary your voice, form, audience, etc.

in order to have a large amount of stuff by friday october 1st, i say we make writing a true priority. these next two weeks must be very grueling in order for us to finish the majority of the show by october 27.

instead, for tuesday 8:30-10:30/11pm:
write: what i hate about the world monologue
write: at least three new pieces from said list
2nd draft: what i hate about myself
2nd draft: username monologue
compile and print out 5+ pages of random dialogue from all over the Internet from various topics and intelligence levels, we will mix up these pieces of text and work collaboratively to create a dialogue chain scene in rehearsal on Wednesday. (if you need things printed, just email tif the text)

please bring in actual written material and transcriptions, not just research. do, however, keep a running list of topics & website links that interest you for writing in the future. bring this in to share.

we won't have much time in between tuesday night and wednesday afternoon to write, so i recommend you write as much as possible so wednesday is a productive material day.

wednesday 2-7pm i'd like to work on:
drafts of all written material in physical form & getting on our feet
reworking drafts and working on edited written pieces
dialogue chain random text mixup
spending some time in studio writing new pieces (for a whole hour or so)
work all improvisational material/scenes
finish learning the feedback dance
work on username gestures
work on pinata gestures

productivity! is the name of the game

I am tremendously proud of us this week of rehearsal so far. It's unbelievable how far we've come in just two days and 8 hours. It's totally fantastic and I give our ensemble an absolute double-hand thumbs-up salute.

In just two short rehearsals we've:

-Edited out our 911 Taco open scene
-Edited/Sorted out our Pinata Commercial text
-Decided what type of pinata we're using
-Ordered masks

-Decided on costume shape

-Decided on publicity photos

-Decided on the FEEDBACK logo color
-Made a track of 911 Taco/Marching Band for the Feedback dance
-Learned nearly 2/3 of the Feedback dance (complete with super creative names for nearly every move!)
-Compartmentalized our current research
-Made a group trip to the farmer's market (LAST CALL FOR PEACHES!)
-Sorted text for Good Girl/Bad Girl
-Sorted text for 30 things before 30
-Made more research & text-generating ideas
-Have a plan for the next two rehearsals!

-Purchased 3 amazing metals stools!

I am sure I'm forgetting a bunch of things, but this list is already giant! I mean GIANT.

Very excited.

For Friday @ 7pm:
-Marissa Bio
-What I Hate monologue
-Username monologue
-Compile Username gesture segment from video clips (notating times/segments of interest in video)
-Tif compiles audio files
-Finish learning Feedback dance
-Marissa Double Rainbow?

For Tuesday @ 8:30pm:
-Brush up on Feedback dance
But, primary focus is table/text work:
-4 related/1 unrelated comment text for political topic we selected
-Compile Pinata gesture/physicality from provided video clips (notating times/segments of interest in video/s)
-Marissa Double Rainbow
-Good Girl/Bad Girl
-30 things before 30
-911 Taco open scene
-Work improv loop ideas (scene, monologue, dialogue chain)
